Itinerary of the Tour Maras Moray and Salineras
We will pick you up from your hotel between 7 and 7:30 a.m. and we will go to Moray. The trip will last around 1 hour and 20 minutes and it is absolutely beautiful. You will drive through the snow-capped peaks of the Andes, lush fields of yellow wheat, and traditional Andean villages. Finally you will arrive at the fascinating terraces of Moray. Moray is made up of three amphitheater-shaped terraces made by the Incas. These terraces, which are dug deep into the earth in the shape of a bowl, are believed to have been used as an agricultural laboratory to determine the optimal conditions for growing crops.
After exploring Moray, you will head to the Maras Salt Mines, which are only 2 miles away.
Maras, which dates back to colonial times, was considered a salt producing center.
Carved into the mountainside are more than 3,000 salt pools, which are filled daily with a small jet of water.
Once the water evaporates, it leaves behind a gleaming mosaic of salt.
The salt mines are a great place to take pictures and capture the astonishing beauty of the Andes and the spectacular Salineras.
We will return to Cusco after the end of our visit.
