There are different networks of Inca roads with connection to Machu Picchu, but currently the best known is the one used as a tourist circuit, properly called the traditional Inca Trail, this corresponds to a route of approximately 45 kilometers, passing through high mountains and extraordinary landscapes; passing through diverse ecological floors with abundant variety of Flora and Wild Fauna; in some sections it presents cobblestones and original steps and ends in the imposing Citadel of Machu Picchu.
ITINERARY
Itinerary of the Inca Trail 05 Days
Day 01: Cusco – Ollantaytambo – Piscacucho – Wayllabamba
At approximately 5:00 am, we pick you up with our private van from the hotel to go to the town of Ollantaytambo, then we go to the starting point at Km. 82, we cross the Urubamba river by the bridge and we begin the walk along the river up to Patallacta (2650msnm) for approximately 3 hours, after lunch we visit the incredible ruins surrounded by snowy mountains.
We enjoy lunch admiring the sunset over the mountains, first night of camping.

Day 02: Wayllabamba – Llulluchapampa – Pacaymayo
At approximately 7:00 am after breakfast, we start the walk to the Kusichaca valley where we can admire the great diversity of flora and fauna, we arrive at Wayllabamba for lunch and then we resume our walk through a gentle climb to the Llullucha valley and we arrive to our second camp in Llulluchapampa (3800msnm), it is time to take advantage of a lunch and a delicious dinner before going to sleep.

Day 03: Pacaymayo – Phuyupatamarca – Wiñaywayna
The greatest challenge: 15 kilometers ascending to cross 2 very high passes, including Warmiwañusca located at 4,200 meters above sea level, this is the highest point of the walk that we crossed breathing with difficulty and being surprised by the impressive panoramic views of the mountains, snowy mountains, and the beautiful semi-tropical valley, then we went down to the Pacaymayu river and climbed again to the second pass called Runcuracay (3900msnm); we pay a visit to the nearby ruins.
From there we can admire the Vilcabamba and Urubamba mountains as well as some lagoons, after a brief pause, we go down a paved Inca trail to the archaeological site of Sayacmarca, we resume our walk penetrating the cloud forest where we can observe the great biodiversity of the flora . We continue descending to a stone staircase that takes us to the ruins of Phuyupatamarca (3700msnm), from there we can take advantage of the wonderful views over the Machu Picchu mountain, the citadel and the Urubamba canyon. After the visit we set up the camp for the night.

Day 04: Phuyupatamarca – Wiñaywayna – Inti Puncu
This is a calmer day; We will walk only 10 kilometers and most of the route is flat and with many descending slopes, we observe how the geography changes, from dry and mountainous, to green and semi-tropical (jungle eyebrow), we pass through the archaeological site of Intipata and continue towards the amazing ruins of Wiñaywayna (2650msnm) where we have lunch, then we resume our walk towards Puerta del Sol (2700msnm) from which we take advantage of our first view of Machu Picchu, we go down for 1h to the citadel and take the bus that takes us to Aguas Calientes .
We spend the night in a hotel in Aguas Calientes with a hot shower!

Day 05: Guided Visit to Machu Picchu
After breakfast we will take the bus to Machu Picchu (2400 masl), very early to enjoy the sunrise in this sacred place and before the arrival of other tourists, the guided tour takes approximately 2 hours followed by free time to better explore the citadel , climb the Wayna Picchu (optional) or the Machu Picchu Mountain, in the afternoon we will go down by bus to the town of Aguas Calientes where we will take the train to return to Cusco.
Afterwards you will be transferred to your hotel.
